Engagement Session

Our Proposal Story

So we planned on going for a walk one Saturday morning. We got in the car and we drove from Raleigh to Durham.  I was in the passenger to seat thinking to myself, "This is a long drive for a walk," but I didn't say anything.  He drove me to Duke Gardens since I had never been there.  He brought a beach towel because it rained the night before and the grass, leaves, and benches were still wet.  We walked and talked for a little while, then he sat me down on a bench that overlooked a small river and a red bridge.  He asked me, "Do you have any reserves?"  I told him that the only reserve I had was becoming common to him which every woman, at some point, feels about her man and her relationship so that wasn't anything major.  He told me, "I can't promise you everything, but I can promise that I will be there for you and our kids when we have them."  He pulled out this box and asked for my hand.  My goofy self turned and looked away because I was blushing and smiling so much.  He opened the box and got on one knee.  Before he could ask, "Will you marry me?" I volunteered my answer.  I personally felt like him getting on one knee was him asking the question.  I looked at my ring and couldn't stop smiling.  The first thing I said was, "Oh wow babe, we are engaged! Can I call my mom?" And we proceeded to call our family and friends to tell them our great news!
